AutoCad freezing when I dont use my mouce for a minute

Hi,

I recently installed AutoCAD 2017 onto my HP Omen laptop however when in the model space if I stop using my mouse for a minute it freezes. This only occurs in the model space and if I move my mouse out of it it reappears allowing me to select commands on the ribbon. Anyone know what may be the issue?

Thanks, David

So once it freezes, it unfreezes if you move the cursor outside of what? AutoCAD?

It freezes in the model space when drawing. It I move outside the model space to the command ribbon the mouse returns. It allows me to select commands etc but for example when I select to draw a line it allows me select it, dimension it but I can see the line nor the mouse

So to make sure I understand, the crosshairs in MS are there, until you don't move them for a minute?

What you are saying almost sounds like SNAP is enabled and your screensize is smaller than the SNAP increment.

Just for a test, type in CURSORTYPE and set it to 1. Any difference?

Type in the command GRAPHICSCONFIG.
When the dialog opens, turn OFF hardware acceleration.
Close the dialog.
Any better?

Unfortunately no difference, still froze when I didn't move the mouse for a few seconds (20secs)

Hardware acceleration is still ON in your screenshot (3) and (4)

This seems to be working now, however, it is gone very laggy...is there a way of reducing this lag without turning on hardware acceleration completely?

Possibly. Make sure your video card is supported, and that you have the recommended driver.

Start here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534

(sometimes that link requires an F5 refresh to work for me....)

It appears that several folks have tried to help on this issue. Were you able to find a solution? Or a workaround?

Did any of the posts in the thread help with your issue?

Please post back in the thread if you are still having an issue with AutoCAD LT or Select Accept as Solution for the post’s that helped.

Thanks for your time.

Sarah,

Unfortunately, none resolved the issue, it seems to be a memory problem as it works for a while then freezes on my model space. Is there a way of getting more cache memory or moving to video memory. It also crashes with an Unhandled access violation. It couldn't be the spec of the laptop as the specs are attached.

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the video driver? Or testing a universal video driver?
