I am attempting to use the polar array.  When I click on the array icon I can't get the fly out to show, to select the amount of objects and the angle.  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, Rowland

@Anonymous - what version of the software are you using? Newer versions will ask you to select the object(s) and then bring up a context sensitive ribbon.

Thanks, I don't know what version of the software I have, but after reading my AutoCAD 2018 book closer, I see the information has to be picked out of the ribbon  I used LT98 for many years and was expecting to find a fly out that is much easier to use.  It would be much simpler if they had kept the same notation.  I have another question, why does the ribbon go up vertically and obscure the lower parts of the drawing?  LT98 the ribbon ran horizontal, much better design.

Thanks,

Autodesk changed their interface in 2009 at the mandate of Microsoft who told developers that to be "Windows Certified" they needed to adopt the ribbon interface. If you want to return to the menubar system that LT98 had you can just type MENUBAR at the command line and set it to (1). You can then dismiss the ribbon by typing RIBBONCLOSE.

Having said that I would SERIOUSLY recommend you try to adopt the new interface as this is the standard interface for all Windows Certified applications.

I've attached some screenshots of the ribbon. Ribbon1 is what the interface is supposed to look like. Ribbon2 is what it will look like with an UNDOCKED ribbon. You can grab it and pull it to the top of your screen to dock it (as seen with the red arrow). If your screen has other issues please post a screenshot of it and we can make some recommendations.

I am sorry, I guess what I am talking about is the command window.  Mine raises vertical, I would like it to be horizontal.  Also I am drawing on an "E" size format.  I have to draw a gear that is 1.140 in. long and .650 dia.  Is there a way to rescale a portion of the "E" size drawing.  I hat to have to draw the gear 4x and change all of the dimensions..

You mean the command line floating?

Just grab the left edge and drag to the bottom until it goes across the screen. I'm not sure if my little video in the last post is working...

Where it says “type a command” if you go to the “offset” icon, the box raises up and says “offset”, specify offset distance, or through erase layer. this information continues to build vertically until you hit escape numerous times. This is very annoying when it covers the drawing area you are working on. In LT98 this is horizontal.

So why not dock your commandline at the bottom just like you had it in LT98: go the section DOCKING THE COMMANDLINE on this page to do so https://www.landfx.com/docs.html/cad-basics/autocad-getting-started/item/2527-command-line.html

I click on the two rows of dots and I still can't move the command line

LOCKUI variable turned on by chance? Look up usage in HELP and turn it off.

Thanks, I never thought about the unlock tab.  The vertical rising command history is still a nuisance, but at least it is not in the center of my drawings.
