XRefs > Dropbox > Multiple Users & Accounts

We work with many other designers and architects on their AutoCad files. We setup the file sheets, bring in x-references, as needed and support their AutoCad needs. When I xref a base drawing, the link always connects directly to the base file in dropbox (within the folder structure of the project). These project folders are shared with other companies. When they open files on their end, they have to redirect the xref path to the folder on their end. When I open the files on my end afterwards, I have to redirect the path again. And so on . . . Is there any way we can bypass this redirection of the path EVERY time? Again, the dropbox folders are SHARED with multiple users with multiple accounts. We've considered using other Cloud Servers, but Dropbox is where all the other project files live and we're trying to keep the workflow LESS complex and not MORE.   Thanks in advance!

Just be sure that all the xref's are in "one folder" that is named the "same" throughout.

Have you tried using the relative path option for the XREFs?

Has DropBox been optimized for this kind of workflow? It sounds very risky with multiple users accessing files and XREFs.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

How is DROPBOX viewed and accessed on everyone's computer?

I wonder if yours for example is mapped as DRIVE D, others are DRIVE F, others are DRIVE Z etc. and why you all have to remap you XREFs all the time.

Look into the PROJECTNAME system variable.  It can point to a set of backup search paths for when XREFs and other reference files are not in the saved location.  These paths can be grouped together to support different projects, clients, or other groupings.

DropBox is a third party application. Have you tried looking in that front for support and/or a forum?
