xref's can't be selected through viewport and do not plot

Xref, is not selectable through a viewport and does not plot. The only way we found to fix this is to create a new viewport, some where on that layout, scroll in it, then lock it. Too time consuming as this problem keeps occurring. We need to know why this is happening to eliminate the issue. Any ideas?

Sounds like the xref is placed on Defpoints layer and inside the vport, your Layer 0 is either turned Off or Frozen.

I would make sure while inside the vport, that you turn On & Thaw Layer 0 and change the Xref to a different Layer.

I agree its likely your layers, make sure all layers you wish to have visible are visible by reviewing the "Layer Properties Manager".
