I am working on a drawing in my office's network. They have a master CAD plan of a building shell with permanent room labels. I am using the master CAD plan as an Xref and want to take the room labels out with out deleting them when I add furniture into the space. I have tried freezing and turning off the layer on the master CAD plan but it imports with the all the layers on as an Xref. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hello @Anonymous,
Try the "Edit xref in Place" & turn off the layer, make sure no one else has the file open otherwise you can not edit the reference in place.
You can share the drawing if you still have an issue.

Use your layer properties manager in your host file to freeze the xref layers you don't want to see. See screenshot below. You can also use command layfrz to just click on the room names to freeze their respective layer.
Hello @Anonymous,
Also keep in mind if you like using system variables... this maybe the real issue.
Make sure:
Note: Move objects from layer 0 to another layer so that they are processed correctly in the host drawing.
