Is it possible to recover xref drawing file. For instants i was working in my working drawing and copy it to other opened cad drawing. after copying it across i delete some file and kept the one i want without realizing the original it link to that file. i when ahead save it and close. now i went back to my original drawing and find out everything is gone. backup is same everything out

Or by chance is your actual problem is that DWG file is no longer being referenced in that top file, either the layer it was on got turned off/frozen or the file got unloaded or detached? hard to tell from your post, like what did you delete and from where and why not check your system trash or the system backup from yesterday to put it all back.

Try to look in temp folder .. you will find .dwg or/and .bak files that may help you.
