XL Dimensions when Selecting a Dimension

I have my DIMSTYLE setup and the dimensions on my drawings look good, print good, they're all the right size until I select them... then they grow to be super large including the line, architectural tick, and measurement. To the point that if I select multiple they overlap and I can't see my drawing.

Could that be a function of their being annotative Dimensions?  If you're not going to have them appear in different Viewports at different scales, can you use non-annotative ones?

They were fine yesterday and I open them today and they are doing this.

When I toggle the  annotative scale from on and off nothing changes

If they are annotative you can set SELECTIONANNODISPLAY to 0 and that shouldn't happen
