X-Ref accurate path location not found on network drive

Hello Everyone,

I recently started working at a new company in which all of our files are located on a shared drive. My colleague is able to open the x-ref's on his computer without an issue, however the path location cannot be found when I open the drawing on my computer. The path location is accurate to the location of the x-ref files, however the x-ref is never initially recognized. I am capable of detaching and reattaching the x-ref however I would like to be able to open up my drawings with the x-ref's being immediately recognized.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As a test, try browsing/navigating to the x-ref folder in Windows Explorer before opening the dwg file.

Another thing you can try is adding the path to the xref file(s) to your Support Files Search Path or one of the other search paths.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry you are having problems with Xref paths. Can you describe your network and what you mean by shared drive? If this is a NAS, it is an unsupported configuration for a variety of reasons but I can still try to help.

Please tell me, can you write to that location with other applications? Have you verified that you have full permissions on the shared location?

Hi @john.vellek and @dmfrazier,

Sorry for not replying earlier. I was able to figure out the solution to the problem. The original files x-refs had been set to a full path as opposed to a relative path. Once I had detached the x-ref and reattached it as a relative path both computers were able to access and view the x-ref off of the network drive. To recap, the issue had to do with the initial x-ref setup being set to a full path instead of a relative path.

Thank you very much for your replies! I appreciate the help.
