Working a PDF file on AutoCad.

Hello everyone!  I am a forestry student and right know i have to do some measurements on a map. My professor said that I could use AutoCad in order to finish the project earlier. But I am kind of stuck. I insert the PDF file and i have to measure the distances of some roads from point A to point B. But how can i measure them if the roads are not objects? Do i have to "mark" them using a polyline and then use the distance tool? Also,my map is on a scale "1:20.000" can anyone tell me how i can get that scale into AutoCad? There is a file of the map below.Every answer will be appreciated! Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Welcome to the community!

Thanks for taking the time to write in. You are going to want to use the ALIGN and SCALE commands when you insert an object in AutoCAD. You can find out more of how to scale here and use these commands here. Once you have your object scaled, then try using the DIST command (short for distance).

The PDF says it is scale 1:20,000

If you insert (xref) the PDF and increase the size (scale) x 20,000 you should be able to measure with the DIST (distance) command.
