Wipeouts Are Not Plotting Using DWG to PDF

Hello,

I have a drawing in which the wipeouts are not plotting when I use DWG to PDF.  The wipeouts work in model space and are showing up properly in paper space.  But when I plot using DWG to PDF, the wipeouts don't work.

I have used wipeouts before on this computer and they have worked.  So I am not sure what it is about this drawing that is causing them to not work.

I have attached a pared-down version of the drawing to this message.

As a note, I have WIPEOUTFRAME set to 0, and the wipeouts are on the lower panels, grouped with each panel.

Thank you

Hi,

Something seems wrong with your drawing, newly created wipeouts work fine.
If you copy and paste your objects to a new drawing it should work again.

Hello,

I have another drawing in which the same issue is happening -- wipeouts are not plotting in DWG to PDF.  I have attached a pared down version of this new drawing.

In the last drawing, I took the information from the previous comment, that new wipeouts are working fine, so I simply deleted the existing wipeouts and made new ones and it fixed the problem.

But why is the same problem happening in another drawing as well?

In regard to the suggestion to copy and paste everything into a new drawing, the problem is that I create groups which combine the wipeout with the group of lines, to create, for instance, a sheet metal panel that will cover up everything behind it.  So, if I paste everything into a new drawing, it will ungroup all of my groups, which will make a mess of the drawing, as it contains a lot of wipeouts and groups.

Hard to tell, like you we only see the results, not the cause.

But... why are you drawing 3D panels with all single lines then using a WIPEOUT to make them opaque? Are you an LT user (you are in the wrong forum), or just not aware that using 3DSOLIDS in AutoCAD (topic of this forum) will do what you want with the correct SHADEMODE setting? Then you don't have to use wipeout and groups.

And if you are using LT version of AutoCAD, you are seriously wasting your time. There are free software that do this all day long so much better and quicker.

I am using AutoCAD 2024, the full program.  I've never used the 3D functions of AutoCAD.  Maybe I should educate myself on that.  For the last year or so, I have drawn these "3D" drawings all in 2D.

So with 3D drawing, the idea is I would create 3D solids and then change the viewing angle to where I want it?

I'll have to self-educate on 3D modeling using online resources.

Edit: meant that as a reply to @pendean

Good to know @michael_m_2

You're not going to learn this in an instant but there are  dozens of better 3D AutoCAD tutorials online that will help you learn to create what appear to be stacked precast panels using 3Dsolids in AutoCAD. Whatever resource you user to learn what you drew in your posted files, I recommend to trash those ASAP.

And while GROUPs are fine for occasional temporary needs, judging by the alarmed response you had to "losing them" when you cut/paste into a new DWG file, I have to ask: did any of your tutorials ever get into the topic of creating blocks? If you want a collection of objects to stay together for a long time they need to become a BLOCK.

I'll get you started with the very basics of 3D 'walls' creation here

Here is an overview of blocks vs groups

Thank you very much, I plan to look into 3D object creation in AutoCAD soon.

I do have knowledge in creating blocks including dynamic blocks.  I used them a lot in my last job but not as much in my current one.  Probably will gradually add more blocks to the library.
