Window Selection with 3D Wireframe Visual Style

Does anyone know if it is possible to achieve the same window selection behavior in 3D wireframe as in 2D wireframe? In 2D wireframe, I can click any empty space among objects and drag a window. In 3D wireframe, I can only drag a window if there are no 3D objects in the foreground or background where I am clicking to start the window. The use case for this is when I want to select multiple solid objects in the middle of a bunch of other solid objects so I can use the 3D Gizmo to move them together. I can only window around them if I start the window outside of all objects, which is often not practical or I will select unwanted objects. I can't use 2D wireframe because the Gizmo is then not available. I've played with a bunch of different selection settings and can't figure it out. I don't see any options in the visual style I can change either. While in 3D wireframe I can force activate the select command with the command line, and then type "W" for window, which allows me to drag a window without highlighting 3D objects... but once the objects are selected the Gizmo doesn't display for some reason. Using the command line to activate select is not a practical workflow anyway even if it did work.

perhaps you can do a screen recording of what you're trying to do to clarify?

Hi,

in 3D-wireframe it should work the same way as in 2D-Wireframe. Perhaps a setting I don't know?

I start the implied window inside the red circle and it works for me (see attached sample file).

If you share screenshots or better screencast, please shot/record the whole program windows, thx.

Try using the Wireframe visual style instead of the @2D Wireframe.

@Valentin_CAD

That wasn't the question or issue, the problem is: He can't using the implied window in Wireframe, but in 2D-Wireframe: Why?

I can use the implied window in 3D-wireframe too, so it can work.

(I forgot my sample file for grenier4, but attached it now / see above)

Without a running command, click into the read circle

On my side: The implied window starts

on grenier4: The implied window don't start, but he's selection the 3Dobject by pick

Which setting we are searching for?
