Window selection behavior issue

This morning when I use window selection I'm getting no difference between a crossing window or non crossing window. Picking from left to right, whatever objects are touched by the window are selected. Tried cycling the selection behavior but the issue persists. What have I done and what is the variable to change it?

if you type " W " when asked for select objects , any changes ? 

Command: e ERASE
Select objects: w

That would happen if you first typed [or something else fed in] "C" for Crossing, which will make even a left-to-right window behave that way.  If it happens without that, and not inside some custom routine that might be doing that, I don't have any bright ideas....

I guess I was too quick to post to the forums. Restarting fixed it.
