When I open a file that has used Windings in the font- the representative shape does not show up but the letter. In my specific case the letter "s" is showing instead of the Windings diamond associated with "s".
Run the STYLE command after you open the drawing. Find the TextStyle in question, double check to make sure that Wingdings.ttf is assigned to that TextStyle.
