Why is a Photoshop file saved when I save a DWG?

Whenever I save a DWG, a photoshop file of that DWG is saved along with it.  I can easily delete the photoshop file but its tedious to go that everytime with the amount of DWG's I have. Is there any way to turn this off?  I already looked under save options in CAD but couldn't find anything.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

It sounds as if the BAK file has become associated with Adobe Photoshop.  You can verify that the file is a BAK (backup file) if you turn on the display of file extensions.

You shouldn't have to worry about the icon showing up incorrectly.

Turn on file extensions in Windows Explorer and confirm what you state: relying on Windows file descriptions based on file associations (and accidentally reassigning them as you did) is never a good critical way to identify file types.
