I want to buy a new laptop http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-envy-17-3-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-1tb-hard-driv...

I want to make sure that I will not get any downloading or working in Autocad 2017 problems.

Can you please clarify what means Windows 10 (DESKTOP OS)

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Community.

In most cases, AutoCAD 2017 also works well on a laptop with Windows 10 OS, the only usual issue encountered would be having a high definition or high DPI monitor. Kindly refer to these articles for additional information:

Autocad LT 2017 display issue with Windows 10 on laptop

Hope this helps. Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Here are the system requirements for AutoCAD 2017.

As far as the spec on this laptop go, I am not sure which version of the processor they have bundled. It apparently come in two speeds. 2.7 GHz and 3.5 Ghz.  The slower is pretty slow if you are going to push AutoCAD hard with complex models and rendering.

[Edit] - I found that it is the slower processor so you will have to determine if that is going to be a big factor.

16 GB of RAM is a great start. The hard drive is SATA but could be even better if you went with a SSD  drive even if it was slightly smaller.

The big elephant in the room is the graphics card. While it is not on the Certified/Recommended list it might still perform fine. I personally haven't used this card so I don't know if it supports Hardware Acceleration in AutoCAD which may or may not be a big deal for you.

The screen is actually rather small which is great for portability but if you are using it non-stop for AutoCAd you might want to consider an external monitor as well. Keep in mind then that the memory on the graphics card gets split to share with both monitors. This might slow certain operations down a bit too. I am guessing though that it wont impact you too much.

Here is also a post on checking all the OS and apps on your computer to make sure that nothing will fight with your AutoCAD Installation. I haven't had a chance to try it personally but it might save a lot of work.

HI @Anonymous,

I am just following up to see if you have any further questions. Desktop OS just means the operating system installed in case you didn't understand that from the requirements list.
