What is up with 3 d solids?

I own AutoCad version 13 Ultimate Design Suite.

I am an instructor at a college teaching Precision Machining.  Our computer tech downloaded what we thought was the full version of AutoCad, however it appears to be LT, even though it does not say it is LT.  It has little or no solid modeling commands.

Then we downloaded Ultimate Suite. Same story. I see screen shots on the net and their screen looks like my 2-13 version.

What gives? I need to have the full blown version with the solid editing commands as we are also working with Feature Cam, which is geared towards solid modeling.

If any one has some answers I would appreciate it.  I contacted support and they only help with software download.

Am I missing something?  The version we downloaded has a very limited solids menu with no editing commands.

Thanks!

Sounds like you need to activate the Workspace for 3D Modeling.  See help for Workspace if you aren't familiar with that.  The built-in choices will be under a 'gear' looking icon at the bottom right of the screen (if 2013 is anything like 2017).

Hi,

>>  Our computer tech downloaded what we thought was the full version of AutoCad

Start AutoCAD, then command _ABOUT and show us the screenshot, it tells you which product, version and service pack you do have running.

>> it appears to be LT, even though it does not say it is LT.  It has little or no solid modeling commands.

When you start command _RENDER (using keyboard) do you get "unknown command" or how is your AutoCAD reacting to that command call?

HI @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

This sounds like you are still in the Drafting and Annotation workspace.  You can easily change to a 3D worksapce either at the top of your screen or the bottom right.

Changing your workspace will change the ribbon to show the proper menu items.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

I believe you have the answer, however I am away from my work station at this time.  I cycled thru the options with my version 13 and that may be the issue I am having.  Apparently they are defaulting to drafting and annotation when first opened up.
I will do some more research as soon as I return.
Thank you for what I am hoping will be the solution to my problem.
