I am currently using AutoCad 2014 sp1, in classic mode with custom toolbars. It was quite a task creating the tool bars

when I upgraded to 2014. We have signed up to upgrade to 2016.

Will the upgrade recognize my current classic setup and keep it, or will I need to start over again?

AutoCAD classic is gone in 2016:(
Toolbars can still be imported from an old CUI so your work custom toolbars need to be in a saved CUI from 2014 to use on a clean 2016. Clean would be the best way to go but 2014 and 2016 can exist on the same PC if necessary.

Thank you. Just to clarify. If I install a clean and separate version of 2016, I can continue to use my current 2014 until I am satisfied that the CUI transfer is working correctly in 2016. Yes, they will run concurrently from a technical standpoint.

From a licensing standpoint, consult your EULA and the T&C of your subscription agreement (if any).

As far as the toolbars. I would suggest creating a new empty "vkollasch.cuix" file and keep this in a folder like "C:\CADSTUFF".
Put your toolbars, ribbon, pull-down, whenever, in this CUIX file.
Then simply load this menu as a partial menu in 2014, 2016, 2017, etc, etc...
No migration, no headaches, done. It will help you today and tomorrrow.
