wblock "invalid path" message

wblock "invalid path" message

A co-worker is using 2015. When trying to create a block with the "wblock" command he gets a message saying "invalid path....". Why is he getting this message? I checked the path that is automatically inserted in the path and block name window and it is correct.

I'm still using 2011 and we are not yet familiar with 2015.

Will someone please offer suggestions?

Thanks, Russell

Okay, I'll do that. When (if) I get a solution I'll come back to this thread and post my findings. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me.

Hi @Anonymous,

I would appreciate another post from you with the answers. I do see SprinkCAD customers here from time to time and I am sure that your response will be valued.

Frequently "virtual" or "remote" access is firewalled and alters write permissions on network installations preventing the virtual/remote user from writing to certain drives. Your IT should be able to easily verify blocked write permissions on remote machines.  We regularly prohibit remote write capabilities on machines outside the corporate intranet for security reasons, we also limit read capabilities only to those few locations necessary to function (license server, corporate standards, etc.).  Any work executed outside the intranet can be copied to our FTP site or corporate cloud host.

Thanks for responding. We're going to the IT with this.

Finally found the person we needed to talk with. He is the tech for the company that our company bought the AutoCAD program through. He is familiar with the issue and has similar issues. He says it's Windows 10 that causes a problem with the "Program Files" folder. We changed the path and will continue to use the SprinkCad program as we normally do and see if that re-name causes problems with other SprinkCad functions. I'll post an update if it does. I have no idea if he is correct but he was the only source I have.

I want to thank everyone that took the time to help me. I'd be in worse shape than I'm in without this forum.

Thanks,

Russell

Hi,

>> He says it's Windows 10 that causes a problem with the "Program Files" folder

Hard to beleive, because that is one folder that every single Windows installation has. If that folder would create troubles there would be a few people already mentioned that in www.

Does that guy have any links so we can read about troubles with Windows 10 and that folder?

Sorry Alfred for being so long in replying but been having a bit of a health issue. Man, this getting old is going to kill me! As for links, he has none. Just issues he's having with programs he's using and not SprinkCad like I have. I am not going to get into that with him; however, I did talk with one of the tech support members for the SprinkCad program and he say's that not all users are experiencing the same but it is happening. These tech support people are not AutoCAD experts, their expertise is the SprinkCad program. I would need to talk with one of their programmers but that is impossible, so for now we're just going to go with the path change and see how that goes. Sorry I couldn't offer more detail.

Thanks for your interest in helping and if I ever do get a definite answer from them I'll be sure and come back to this post. I'm not through with this yet, but work is getting in the way.
