Want a separate layout for each viewport.

Hello all,

The solution to this might be very basic. I have a dwg file which contains multiple floor plans (in separate viewports)  in a single layout tab. Firstly, I want to know is there any shortcut to create separate layout for each floor plan? Secondly, after creating separate layouts, I want a separate dwg file for each layout. Can anyone help me with this. See attached for reference.

Hi,

No, not a built in function.

You'll need to copy the layout, delete all but one of the views, and arange the layout plot area.

If you have a layout you can use command _EXPORTLAYOUT to create a dwg-file with the content of the layout in the new file's modelspace.

Do this:

  1. Save your drawing, give it a name such as 'Sheet-1.'
  2. Right click on the layout tab named 'Layout 1.' Then from the shortcut menu, select 'Move or Copy.'
  3. In next dialog window, highlight (move to end) and check the box 'Create a copy' then click OK.
  4. You'll get a new layout tab. Delete viewports you don't need, keep only the VP you want. If you wish, right-clicking on the new tab that was just created and rename it.
  5. Perform a Save As but this time give it a new name such as 'Sheet-2.' You may now delete 'Layout 1' since tab named Layout 1 still exists in your original drawing (Sheet-1).
  6. Repeat as needed until you have the number of drawing files you need, giving each new drawing its own name.

1-right click layout 1 then select Move or copy....1-right click layout 1 then select Move or copy....

2-Select Move to end, then check box 'Create a copy.'2-Select Move to end, then check box 'Create a copy.'.

As already said -
1. Use EXPORTLAYOUT in Model.
2. Divide the model into separate files.
This can be done automatically with additional programs.
