Viewport Overrides

When I use the Viewport Color override and hit ok, it freezes up for at least 2 minutes everytime. 

When I use the Viewport Freeze override there is no freezing up at all.  Is there a reason for this or a way to speed it up?

Also switching tabs is extremely slow and was wondering if using Viewport Overrides is a cause of this? It's an extremely helpful tool, so i hope not!

i suggest to try to Audit and Purge ( Regapps ) your drawing first . if not fix would you please attache here your drawing .

Your AutoCAD version is...?
Is this an XREF layer, a nested XREF layer, or a layer in your actual file?
Is this a problem in ALL files, or just this one file?

Civil 3D 2017 and it is a layer in the actual file.  Seems to be a problem in most files.

I've already tried to purge and audit it.
