viewport over pdf layout won't show the model space

I inserted a pdf underlay to my paper space and opened a view port on part of it, yet when the pdf underlay is in the back the view port won't show anything. when I moved the  viewport away from the pdf background it shows its content, any suggestions?

A PDF underlay (at position of viewport for modelspace) should never in paperspace,

insert it in modelspace, i think that the best way.

Independet of that:

Your Pagesetup have one property: Plot paperspace last.

If that is checked, your PDFunderlay in paperspace will cover all modelspace objects..

This is Normal ... pdf file and viewport are two separately CAD items that will one of them cover the other in the way that you follow . putting pdf file in the Model space is the right way to avoid any unexpected problems .

I eventually moved the pdf to model space and then opend a view port withnin a view port
