ViewCube Issues

Hi,

So I'm new to AutoCAD but I am very experienced in CAD in general like Solidworks or Fusion. Right now I am stuck on something which seems very basic, changing the view. I can freely pan around but clicking on the sides of the viewcube doesn't do anything, and if I change it from the viewport options on the upper left corner or in the view menu only 'top' works. This is very annoying and kinda unusable right now.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,

>> but clicking on the sides of the viewcube doesn't do anything

Are you inside a viewport (on a layout) and the viewport is locked?

If not try to restart AutoCAD, create a new drawing and try again to click on edges or corners of the viewcube.

Also make sure your AutoCAD is updated, if you don't know if it is or not start command _ABOUT and show us a screenshot of that dialog.

Are you trying to change the drawing plane? The viewcube merely changes your vantage point so you can see your 3D object from different angles. To change or select your drawing plane go to View tab>Views panel.

I'm pretty sure it's not locked because I can freely pan and switch between top and bottom, I just can't go to right, left, front and back.

Restarting AutoCAD doesn't work. I tried to save as a new file but the problem still persists.

I'm also pretty confident it's up to date as I only installed it a few days ago.

I attached a video of my issue here:

What does your View Manager look like. Can you please upload a screen shot?

View tab>View panel>Named Views. Is something in the view manager overriding your 'preset' views?

View Manager.View Manager.

Here is my View Manager. If I try to change it in here (Right/Left/Front/Back -> Apply -> OK) it doesn't work either.

Hmmm....Here's an Autodesk AKN on viewcube rotation. Click >>HERE<< to read it. It's dated 2015 but might still be beneficial.

The guide says to check GPU compatibility and update drivers.

I'm running a GTX 1060 which isn't officially supported but other people seem to be just fine with it.

Also, updating my GPU drivers doesn't work.

I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling but not sure what else to do.

Nevermind I fixed it. Instead of saving as a new file I created a new file and then copy & pasted everything over.

Should have tried that first.
