View cube rotation in AutoCAD2016

Hello,

I have a strange problem with view cube. It seems that I cannot completely rotate my geometry in 360° in all directions.

There is a compass ring around the view cube. It stays in the front, back or bottom of view cube. The ring does not go to left, right or top of the view cube. I tried to change few view cube settings but nothing helped so far.

Does anyone know hoe to fix this?

Best regards,

Saketh Bharadwaj

Did you reset AutoCAD; options / profiles / reset, if it doesn't fix, you can use shift+mouse button pressed to orbit your viewport

Hey @bahar.darcan. Thanks for your response.

The shift + mouse button is the one I have been using since quite sometime. I noticed that it has been this way all along but never actually bothered. It is important now because my geometry is more complicated.

I just did reset. It did not fix the issue. So the problem still exists.

I believe the fix for this problem is not directly related to view cube. It has something to do with general view settings. But this is just a speculation and I do not know exactly how to fix this.

Can you show us what you see with a video recording please?

The problem is in my office PC. Uninstalling and installing process will be kind of last option and a long process.

Do you really think that reinstalling the software fixes problems with view cube? Just asking..

@pendean  I tried to make a screen recording but looks like I cant upload here in this thread.

I do not know how this screencast works. Looking for alternatives to post it.

@ksakethk ,

Set your UCS to World and View to Top.

Try and uncheck the "Show compass below the ViewCube".

Checked =  ValentinWSP_2-1643213716760.png

Do not confuse with Full Navigational Wheel.

Otherwise consider reset AutoCAD to defaults.

Hello ,@Valentin-WSP

I already tried changing the view cube settings and did reset AutoCAD twice. But the problem still exists.

The problem is with view cube, not with navigation wheel.

I am attaching a sample file for reference. But I am afraid that settings in my file will be overwritten when the file is opened in other computer.

Thank you.

@ksakethk ,

Like @pendean suggested, provide a screencast - see How:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast

See if changing the Visual Style to Wireframe helps.

Viewcube.jpgHi, do you want this? Shown as this? I did this in your project.

@bahar.darcan @Valentin-WSP  @pendean

Here is the recording.

You can see that as I move my cursor upwards at some point the geometry rotates in some other direction.

But I also noticed that the problem is with rotation axis. When I selected continuous orbit, I was able to rotate my geometry in the way I wanted and the problem is gone. But I do not use continuous orbit while I am working.

Thank you.

@ksakethk ,

That is just how 3D Orbit works. Consider using Free Orbit (See link).

Hi, i don't have the same problem, yours is directly related to your program, I think it will be fixed if you uninstall and reinstall it.
