View base -how to dimension to a theoretical point

Autocad 2015

I have a solid model that I created views from using the viewbase method.  I would like to dimension to the center of an object that does not have a feature at the center.  Using the old method of solview & soldraw I could add a point in model space and then dimension to it from paper space.  Using the viewbase method there does not seem to be a way to do this.  Suggestions?

Hi,

>> I would like to dimension to the center of an object that does not have a feature at the center.

If you have a circle or an arc in the 3D-model you can use the objectsnap _CENTER to snap it's center.

Otherwise you always have the option to use object snap _M2P (for mid between 2 points), also that works with the drawing view object.

If both answers are not valid for your geometry please show us the drawing and what you'd like to dimension.

Alfred, if I'm not mistaken Viewbase views only displays solid body objects. Unless I missed something - I think it would be great if 2d objects were displayed.
