Using geographic location in AutoCAD 2016

I am working with AutoCAD 2016 and have all the SP's and all the hotfixes. I think? My AutoCAD version is M 151.0.0 AutoCAD 2016.0.11. I downloaded and installed "Autodesk AutoCAD 2015-2018 Geolocation Online Map Hotfix". Is there anything else that I need to update? I also have an account and am logged into A360. At that point I click onto "Set Location" from INSERT tab on the Ribbon. There I click onto "From Map". At this point I type the location. The grayed out text in the search box does not disappear when I type a location. Have to cancel and repeat. Then I can type a location and the grayed out text disappears.  Click on search and it just keeps on searching. Can't get to page 2 of 2. I tried everything and nothing works. Please I need HELP!! This is really frustrating.

A360 died and went away a few months back: you can remove that from your PC permanently.

Are you logged in inside AutoCAD2016? That's all that matters. Also post screenshots of the dialog boxes you see when you get a chance.

When I try to login in using my work email and password I login into A360. When I try to create a new account using my work email again it tells me I already have an account. How can I get around that? How do I remove A360?

You uninstall A360 just like you uninstall any other program installed in Windows https://www.pcrisk.com/how-to-remove-spyware/uninstall-program-windows

Restart your PC afterwards.

I'm assuming I have to uninstall A360 from my PC?

I uninstalled A360. Then I open an Autocad session to sign in. This is what I get. Have to cancel on the first then I can type a location. After that it just searches.

I will pick this up Monday.

HI @falconbird,

From your images it looks like you are able to type in a location yes? If so, try putting in just the city, state to see if the search can continue.

(It does appear that your AutoCAD 2016 is fully updated as necessary)

Logged into Autodesk. The first time the Geographic Location dialog box shows up and I start typing a location (city and state) the text in the search area does not disappear. Have to cancel it and the second time I can type a location and hit the search button. At that point it just keeps on searching.

Hi @falconbird,

I am seeing the same behavior in my AutoCAD 2016 which is fully updated to 2016.0.11.

I was able to attach the map in 2017 and it is retained in 2016 when I open the file.

I am researching this on my side to see what might be causing the issue.

John, I downloaded and installed "AutoCAD 2015-2018 Geolocation Online Map Hotfix". When the installation is finished this is what I get for a message (see attachment) but it works with AutoCAD2015.  The attachment shows a different version for AutoCAD2016 that the hotfix does not support. My AutoCAD version is AutoCAD2016 2016.0.11? BTW I also have AutoCAD2015 which I don't use that often.

Hi @falconbird,

After a bit of research, I found that while the hotfix   (already embedded in the 0.11 update) addressed the changes made by Microsoft, there is apparently something unique to the AutoCAD 2016 dialog so that the interaction with Microsoft  that doesn't work properly.

The Dev team is aware of this issue but has not yet decided on how this older version of AutoCAD will get changed in order to fix the behavior.

Thank you. I know at some point I will move up to a newer version. But for now I guess I will be working with AutCAD2016 in conjunction with AutoCAD2015 when I need to use the set location. If there is an update will I be notified?

HI @falconbird,

While it is less likely that this older version will have an update, I will try to post any changes in this thread when / if they become available.
