You can use your new computer with your new operating system (I guess Windows 10) for your main work.
But for AutoCAD 2000 (or older versions basically) I would suggest to create a virtual system (like Oracle Virtual Box, which is free), install Windows XP on that system and then AutoCAD 2000.
So every time you need AutoCAD you can do that inside that virtual system and you are not dependent on any operating system updates any more (with the risk that after updating it the old software does not work well any more).
