Updating Datalink opens excel in read-only

whenever I go to update a datalink, add a datalink, edit cells I want included, etc... autocad opens the excel in a read-only file on another monitor or flash open and close when updating. this is very annoying and almost makes me feel that's what having a seizure would feel like. Especially when there are several datalinks in one dwg. I am thinking it's a system variable and have searched for users with the same problem and have not seen any. Thanks in advance. This happens in all instances in AutoCAD but I primarily use Civil3D 2014. I just was given a new system and my old system never had this issue and the other users in the office do not have this issue.

Good morning DRITCHIE2,

I am sorry you are having a bad experience with the datalink files. Is it possible to attach a sample set of files so that I can try to duplicate the problem? It would help me to help you.

Good morning DRITCHIE2,

I haven't seen an update to your post so I thought I would check back with you to see if your issue had been resolved. If not, please add some file attachments so I can further explore the issue. If you feel that this is more of an issue due to being in Civil 3D we can move this post to that forum.

John, It will do this to any datalink I bring in. I tried to screen record through a screen capture on my computer and it did not show up, so I took a video on my phone so I apologize in advance for the lack of quality. what I am doing is in the datalink manager, just clicking one of the links so I can pick it to edit. Attached is a snippit of how the data link is set up as well.

Good morning DRITCHIE2,

I don't see any of your file attachments in the thread. :cara_de_decepción:

I would like you to attach the actual dwg and xls files if possible so I can determine what might be happening. Please also, take time to start a new and clean drawing (local) with a new datalink to an excel file stored locally (not on a network or shared drive). Post your results on whether the problem happens in this new test situation.
