Units command makes AutoCAD grey-out

I want to change the units of a drawing from mm to m, but everytime I try to type in the 'UNITS' command, or use this method: 
"Click Format menu > Drawing Setup. In the Drawing Setup dialog box, click the Units tab. Change the Drawing Units from Millimeter to Meter and click OK. A Warning dialog box will be displayed, indicating that you have changed the units for this drawing", everything is greyed out and I can't click on anything. The dialogue box doesn't pop up either.

Hi,

I suggest to check AutoCAD updates from your Autodesk Desktop App . if NO success try to reset AutoCAD to default . >> Click <<

This will not solve the problem with your autocad (rather reinstalling) but for now you can also change units with DWGUNITS command instead.

If you expect a dialog and it does not appear, and all is greyed out, you can:

• press <ESC> to interrupt the invisible dialog to return to the main software ... or
• press <ALT><SPACE> ... a popup menu will appear, use keyboard cursor down to select "MOVE" then press <ENTER> and now use keyboard cursor <LEFT> or <RIGHT> until you get the missed dialog inside the visible area: When you see it you can continue with your mouse to place this dialog ... now all is well and back working.
