Unable to save any titleblock as DWT

Unable to save any titleblock as DWT

Hi

When saving a file as a DWT a message comes up telling me Invalid File Name.

This happens on all files and I've tried saving it in different locations (desktop, documents, on our server).

Please see attached!

Odd.... couple things to try:

  1. Try to save to a name that isn't using 'spaces' within the file name (eg: Adroit_Design_2018_A2.dwg).
  2. Can you save this as a DWG? If so, copy the DWG and rename the extension to DWT
  3. Check with your local IT (or Systems Administrator) to ensure that your workstation is not locked down to the point that you cannot save files to your own machine (doubtful) but something to check; or can you save other files to the same location, such as Microsoft Word as an example.
  4. Are all the files your trying to save based off the same start-up template?
  5. Is this happening to only you, or to others in your office/company?

Can you SAVEAS as a dwg to your desktop?
Can you SAVEAS from any other application to your desktop?
Does your desktop already contain a DWT file with that name? You seem to be in DWG file with the same name.

Hi @Anonymous,

Just to play the Devil's advocate, can you attach your file to a post so I can try it on my system?  I don't really believe there is anything wrong with the file and that this is likely a permissions issue but I would like to verify that I can make it work on my computer.

@Cadologist

Saving without spaces didn't work, I've even tried just to save it as 'A'

I can save as a DWG, renaming the file ext to .dwt worked!

There is another PC with AutoCAD which also has the same problem but it was an exact copy of my PC im currently working as so all settings possibly transferred over?

@pendean

I can saveas a DWG and saveas all other applications

@john.vellek

I have attached it to see if the same happens

I now have an issue where when I open the DWT, 2 files open.

1 being drawing1 which is fine but the actual drawing opens under Adroit Design 2018 A2?

Hi @Anonymous

I am able to save this as a DWT on my desktop without any issue.  I see however that you are not saving in 2018 format which perhaps might be part of the issue.

I also notice that many of the Xref files are stored in your user profile. Can you try  moving them to a user-defined folder and try again?
