Unable to import SketchUp file exported as a .dwg

I'm using AutoCAD 2023 and SketchUp Pro 2022. I have a SketchUp file that I exported as a 2D graphic .dwg. The file was saved and I can see it in File Explorer. When I try to import it into an existing AutoCAD file, nothing seems to happen. I'm selecting Import from the AutoCad icon, and then "other formats". This opens a file explorer window where the file I need to import is saved. I select the file and hit [open] (the only option). "Import" is active on the command line, but nothing seems to happen. Am I missing a step or something?

I did figure out how to import it as an exploded block through Libraries in the Block panel. Is this the only way to import parts of my SketchUp file?

If you already from Sketchup exported to a dwg format, then in AutoCAD all you would have to do is open the dwg file. There should be no need to Import.

@lisasfoshee may I ask, what is an "exploded block through libraries" mean please, does that exported DWG file have AutoCAD BLOCK types in it that you need to access only as blocks?

Can you use ADCENTER command to grab blocks in that file?

Can you OPEN that DWG file, find those blocks, then copy/paste from it to your other files?

Or you could try to INSERT /CLASICINSERT it as a whole block into an existing drawing: then if it contains any blocks, they should appear magically in your BLOCK palette.

Let us know.
