Unable to extrude taper a spiral polyline

Hello everyone--I'm looking to take a spiral and extrude it tapering down to a smaller spiral to form a solid object. I have these drawn out as polylines. I've tried going extrude taper but am not sure where I'm going wrong.

I've also tried lofting and sculpting but unable to do so in my first attempt. I may have the wrong approach entirely but if somebody could guide me through so I can research and learn, it'd be much appreciated.

AutoCAD considers the two spiral profiles as being open that is why when you give the pedit command you will see the Close option.  Just give the pedit command and type C to close the two profiles and use loft to create a solid object.
