Turn off wheel double-click zoom extents?

Turn off wheel double-click zoom extents?

Anonymous
Not applicable
When you double-click the center "wheel" button Autocad performs a zoom
extents. Is there any way to disable this or change its function? It's
very annoying to be zooming in or out with the wheel only to suddenly have
the display jump to an extents view because of accidental double-click.

Thanks

You can set MBUTTONPAN = 0

This is not a solution. This turns off the pan with the middle button which disables the zoom extents.

Its like to get relief from the pain in your big toe -  cut off your leg just below the knee.

When I use the wheel to zoom in and pan it constantly does a zoom extent. I just want to stop zoom extents and still use the wheel to zoom in / out and pan before I lose the rest of my hair.

On or off is the solution, AutoCAD offers no other choice.

Get a less sensitive middle-button mouse, or increase the double-click speed in your mouse driver, or disable double-clicking of the middle button (set it to do nothing for example) in your mouse driver are a few of the options other users have tried that worked for them.

I just found a satisfactory solution (for myself at least) by going into the CUI and under the click menu clearing whatever command was assigned to button 3 (I am not sure this is a necessary step) as well as upped my double click speed to the fastest in the mouse settings in my windows control panel.

Is there any way to turn off only "Zoom extent"? Becoz I would like to keep PAN for single click.

If I make MBUTTON "0" PAN also won't work.

I never have that problem accidentally zooming to extents. Is your mouse wheel click really soft? As in the weight of your finger on it would easily multiple click it? My middle click is probably about 100% harder to push than my left mouse button is. No chance I'm accidentally clicking it twice when I pan. Since there's no way to shut one off without the other maybe a different mouse would help with a stiffer click like mine has.

On a side note: I have no idea what mouse you use but I never understood how someone can be happy with a 10$ flimsy dell or whatever cheap mouse when it's something you are using every second of your day, probably a million clicks a week or month. I probably spent 5 hours reading about mice before I decided on which one would work best for me. I ended up really liking my choice so I bought a second one so if it breaks I don't need to adjust to a new mouse if they stop making that model. I use my mouse an insane amount for my job. I barely let go of it all day, so I am pretty picky.

Last time I checked there was not an option to turn off zoom extent. I would recommend trying a different mouse to see if you get the same results. The issue seems to be with the mouse, even if it worked fine before.

These are not acceptable solutions. The developers created this option they need to create a way to turn it off. This and dragdrop are the worst features in cad and there is no way to turn them off? bull ****, fix this! Cad should fit my needs not the other way around

You right, I let  it get the better of me. It's insane what this software cost without the ability to complain about these issues directly to the company.

Is there still no solution to this? I am having the same issue. I try to copy and pan and it zooms extents while Im in the middle of moving. It does it 2-3 times that I try it and its SO **** ANNOYING. I dont want to turn off pan just ZOOM why cant I JUST turn off ZOOM?

I have to weigh in on this issue as well. I am in the middle of editing my drawing when all of a sudden it zooms to extents while I am panning with the mouse wheel. Right? Push the wheel down and pan around. Great tool. Accidentally push twice and the drawing zooms extend. There should be a way to disable the double "click" of the mouse wheel.

Good request but in the meantime.... Your middle-button is just overly sensitive: could be as simple a fix as changing your mouse driver settings for double-click speed or finding a mouse with a less sensitive middle button that requires an effort to double-click (that's what I opted for).

Never double click unless you want to zoom extents.  If you want a single click for real-time panning, set MbuttonPan back to 1.

I see a lot of mentions of the middle button being over sensitive, but that isnt always the issue, its CAD thats over sensitive. I see mention of double clicking but again, in my case that isnt the issue either. Some people have a mouse with middle button settings they can change, but again, thats not always the case, its not my case. I will have this problems for weeks at a time and then no problem for weeks at a time even though I dont change anything. Still using the same mouse, same drawings, same version of CAD.  The MBUTTONPAN is not a solution by any means, yes it turns off the zooming in and out, but you lose your ability to pan through your drawing and are stuck using the scroll bars which slows your work down substantially.

It would just be nice if AutoDesk would listen to their customer base and work on issues like these. If you search for this issues you will find it all over, its a common problem that is being ignored by the company.

Well in your Standard Toolbar there is an icon (a hand) that is Pan Real Time.  Picking that would be far easier than using scroll bars.

For my personal preference, I keep the scroll bars off.

If this was such a big deal, do you really think this "issue" would be ignored since the origination of this thread in 2001, 16 years ago?

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

This phrase alone "https://www.google.com/search?q=autocad+turn+off+middle+wheel&rlz=1C1GGRV_enUS751US751&oq=autocad+tu..." yields 13 pages in google alone. That doesnt include variations of the search or other search engines. There are multiple forums string dedicated to the issue, I know because I found them in my search to solve the problem.

The fact that this string is 16 years old just shows how long its been ignored. 16 years this has been an issue people have been on forums and all over the web trying to resolve with no change,  so yea, its an issue.
