trying to make an elliptical helix

I need to create what looks more or less like a rotated view of a squashed column with a rectangular screw thread going around it. (picture attached).

I know how to create a 3d spiral by using the helix tool and then using sweep to extrude a small circle (or rectangle...) along it.

How do I do the same with an elliptical path?

Thanks  🙂

Thanks, but I already know how to make a circular one...I know that will look elliptical when rotated, but this one needs to be in the shape of an ellipse when viewed from Top before any rotation of the resulting 3d object.

You may be familiar with the process of non uniformly scaling 2d geometry via block creation, then subsequent insertion at different x,y,z, scales.  Exploding that insert returns the NUS geometry.

That can also be done to the Helix entity.  With Helix, though, that entity must first be exploded to a spline before block creation.
