Trimming randomly beyond intersections

Hi guys,

When trimming multiple lines the trim command goes beyond the nearest intersections, generally removing the line completely, Until recently I have never experienced this. The only change to date is a 2017 upgrade to 2020.

I've checked the edge mode and that's set to 0 and the precision set to 0.00000000. Any ideas?

Please post an example dwg.

BTW: I've never seen that the trim command removes a line completely  (except you choose the eRase option explicit)

EDGEMODE set to 1 will trim objects based on all objects that would cross the trimmed line if extended, set EDGEMODE  to 0.  Trim will remove a section of a pline, so if you have a box made of 4 segments of a pline and use trim on it, trim will remove the segment picked.  I use that to my advantage all the time.

Sorry for the delay in getting back,

I've double checked edge mode and its set to 0. As this only started happening after I downloaded AutoCAD 2020, I'm wondering if there was a compatibility issue between 2017 and 2020. I'm going to start from scratch and redraw the entire drawing a fresh in 2020 with no imports from the 2017 version. This may make no difference but thought it was worth a try.

j.palmeL29YX,

I'm going to redraw complete in 2020. I'm not sure if when I opened a AutoCAD 2017 DWG in a 2020 AutoCAD there was a compatibility issue. Failing that I may have some how corrupted the file, I hope that starting a fresh will resolve this.

I opened your last posted Drawing1.dwg and trimmed some lines without problems. Therefore I asked, where do you habe problems, which line you can not trim as expected.

And - a compatibiliy problem is not known for me.
