Trim Solids Using Curved Shape

Hi Team

 

I'm drawing a liquid separator (cylinder tank) with associated piping, the bottom 2 pipes are extending inside the filter tank as shown in pic-2. I would like to trim them using the tank wall (cylinder) so that the pipes will only start from the tank wall and extend to outside (thus I want to remove the inside extensions of those 2 pipes). How can I do that?

Hi,

Create an inner cylinder of your tank as temporary object, then run command _SUBTRACT to subtract this temporary cylinder from your pipes.

Thanks Alfred, I have drawn a temporary cylinder, but the subtract command doesn't seem to work. Just to confirm, the inner cylinder should follow the shop of my cylindrical tank right?

Please let me know what happens, especially what AutoCAD states in the command-line.

"Does not work" is not enough description to be able to help you.

 

Also the JPG is nothing that helps me to help you, I can't select objects in the JPG to see which type of object you have. If you upload the dwg-file we can see and select your objects to get informations about them.

Sorry to now know what "shop" means in this context. I meant the tank's outer volume.

Hi,

 

as I get a proxy warning ... am I correct that you are you using Plant3D?

If so then this forum here is the wrong one (as well as my suggestions for how to handle 3D-Solids with Boolean operations).

 

Please re-ask (with dwg attached) in the >>>forum for Plant3D<<<
