Transparency of individual xref instance

I have multiple instances/copies of the same xref dwg in the model space (each also has a clipping boundary), some of which I would like to increase the transparency of, however cannot find a way to do this.

I have come across many forum solutions to change the transparency of the xref layers, although this changes all instances of the xref - this is not the desired result I want as I don't want to change the transparency of all of them.

To give context, I have a house elevation drawn in one dwg, and have multiple copies xrefed into a seperate dwg to create a street long elevation. Any houses further back I would like to be more opaque (creating a similar effect to the use of depth cueing in Revit).

Thanks for any help with this.

This is not REVIT.

Inside each paperspace viewport you can control VP layer settings to display differently from modelspace and other viewports. Is that an option?

But for one single XREF in a top file, there is no OOTB option to "set this one like this, set this other one like that" solution if I understood your exact need/limitation.

In addition, in the top drawing, you can place different instances of the same xref in random transparency-set layers:

However, this workaround will work as long as all the nested xref elements are placed on xref's Layer 0.
