Transferring Hatch Patterns

Hi All

Quick Question, How Can I Transfer the Hatch Patterns in AutoCadd 2013 into AutoCadd 2021.

The Default Hatch Patterns in 2013 are larger than the Default Hatch Patterns in 2021.

Any Help Would be Appreciated.

Yes, both PAT files, and hatch entities themselves can be used in both versions with no issues./

Larger? Or is your session perhaps not using the correct one in this one file (ACADISO.PAT vs ACAD.PAT)?

Hi,

in addition to @pendean 's post you can verify these 2 variables between your AutoCAD 2013 and version 2021:

Then you know if ACAD.PAT or ACADISO.PAT is used (and same for linetypes).

AFAIK the PAT files have not changed for a long time now.

Hi,

You can just copy them into the default Support folder (listed below) that AutoCAD uses to find hatch patterns. Added .pat files will cause hatches to be listed under the User Defined or Custom hatch menu within AutoCAD.

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD <version>\Rxx.x\<language>\Support

Thank You for your quick response to my question.
The problem I'm having is that, when working on a design
in Auto 2013, I was using a specific hatch that was an
assigned in the hatch patterns pull down (Roofing_SpainishTile)

However, when I brought up the Drawing up to revise it, in AutoCadd 2021
the Hatch Pattern (Roofing_SpainishTile) was not included in the Hatch Pattern
Selection Pull down.

So, My Problem is: How do I import all the Hatch Patterns that were incorporated
in AutoCad 2013 into AutoCadd 2021

Sincerely,

David W. Shepherd

Hi,

Copy the PAT-file for this hatch pattern from AutoCAD 2013-folder to a support folder of AutoCAD 2021.

Then restart AutoCAD (or use command _REINIT)

@daveshepherd ,

"Roofing_SpainishTile" hatch is not a standard in AutoCAD (it's a custom addition you have)

the question is where "Roofing_SpainishTile" it's stored in your computer?

the AutoCAD default pat files includes ACAD.PAT, ACADISO.PAT in support folder also a pattern definition can be stored as standalone pat file. so to solve your issue you need to look for pat files under AutoCAD 2013. start with OPTION command support files search path and see if there is an added folder for pat files,  if there is? all you need is to add that folder for R2021. if there isn't, search for pat files in support folders and copy them to the same folder in R2021.

if you can't find a standalone pat files then maybe "Roofing_SpainishTile" is store in AutoCAD standard pat files (acad.pat, acadiso.pat) in that case make a backup to these files in R2021 and overwrite them with those you bring from R2013.

restart AutoCAD and your issue is solved 😀

enjoy

Moshe
