Transfer custom ribbon images to new computer

I am setting up a new computer in the office and I am trying to transfer a ribbon panel over to that computer. I have been successful transfering it to the new computer but the images didn't transfer with it. I thought the images were saved with in the CUI file. I have never copied over the image files before Since they have always just been on my machine. Do I just need to copy the entire CUI file from my machine to the new one? I have tried to search my entire computer for the image files but they are not found so they have to be saved somewhere in autocads files. Hopefully someone can help me out with this.

Images are not saved within the CUI file, just the path to which they are stored.

You will have to open the CUI file and verify the path.  If no path is set, then they are stored in a 'support path' set within AutoCAD.

When I go and click on the button in CUI editor in autocad and scroll down to see the image name when I click on it, it opens a folder location called Icon but theres nothing inside that folder location. If I search my C drive for that image name nothing comes up....Some how my computer keeps pushing the images forward from previous autocad versions but those folders have been deleted when I uninstall the previous autocad.

Look in the below IMAGES area within the CUI:

Mine does not show a path just a name. I think autocad has them stored somewhere and everytime I have upgraded I have deleted the old folders so I dont have an Icon folder back when I had 2012

Then you need to look at your 'support paths' in the options dialog, and search for images.

They are probably located there on your original computer.

Hi,

>> I thought the images were saved with in the CUI file

Are you speaking about CUI files or about CUIX files?

CUI files do not contain the images (these type of files are just XML-like files defining the menu structure/items)

CUIX files hold their images by themselves, you can rename the CUIX file to ZIP, open this ZIP file and there they are ... the icons 😉

Alfred you just beat me to that suggestion.  lol

That is probably the best way, renaming to ZIP to find the images.

I was just showing him where the paths are stored, but excellent suggestion!!!
