Toolbar Button Macro to open file based on active user profile

AC2016/18

So i have a customized toolbars (yes toolbar, we are not using ribbons), that includes buttons to open our title-block files (22x34, 24,26, etc...) .  Right now, that toolbar is set to my user profile to open that file, so the macro is:

^C^C_Start;C:/Users/brian.vanderheyden/Documents/"CAD Standards"/"AutoCAD Design Files"/Blocks/05-Misc"/05.1-Templates/DL-XTB-22x34.dwg;

RH-Toolbar_2016.jpg

How do i change this so that AutoCAD looks at the current user profile?

Essentially what i want is to be able to share my cuix file with my other cad users and not edit the cuix file for each person.

I attempted this, but it didnt work...

^C^C_Start;%userprofile%/Documents/"CAD Standards"/"AutoCAD Design Files"/Blocks/05-Misc"/05.1-Templates/DL-XTB-22x34.dwg;

Thanks

BV

Why don't you place all shareable and regularly needed and shareable content, including any "templates", in a central location and avoid the error-prone method of having multiple copies buried everywhere based solely on a user log-in?

Actualy, we do....

All our files are on a the server at a Master location, however, often most designers are not in the office and our VRN connection to our office is painfully slow, so if we are not on our network, file management kills our progress.   So we started syncing our master files to our local HDD, the sync updates daily and just those files that get changed.     So the designer constantly has the most updated version on his local HDD and he can work directly on his HDD.  Same with the final design docs, those are also auto sync'd, but are pending acutal connection on the office network.

So, the tool palette blocks are coded to look at the active user, so i can share that file with no problem, but the toolbar doesn't seem to provide that ability....

In which case, why not have a uniform C:\CADSTANDARDS folder for ll the content on each laptop and stay out of the per-user-profile locations?

We found out a long time ago most users never tap the C:/ drive locations, but do tend to help themselves to folders found under their "my documents" locations. Plus that folder remains in place as different users log into laptops all day long all the time.

That's our system or our 5-mobile laptops tat everyone checks out. Works well, and I don't spend too much time geeking out on auto-distribution of updates.
