Tool palettes issue/crash

Does anyone else experience this palette crash?  Or that is what I am calling it.  Everything works fine then I load Autocad and poof they don't load and I have to go and recheck the palettes to be active.  Sometimes they come up sometimes they don't.  Multiple computers, all Win 7 Pro, all with admin rights.  All with multi monitors.  Had the same thing on occasion in 2015 as well.

They are docked on the sides of the screens or are supposed to be.

Hi,

don't know what happened to your menu, you can try to do a reset of the menu starting command _CUI and right-click the main cui ==> Reset ACAD.CUIX

After you recreated it make sure you make a copy of your workspace so you can restore it in case it's damanged again (command _WORKSPACE and option _SAVEAS)

Unfortuantely I might not want to do that.  We do use a 3rd party software and I am checking with them as well.  But this looks to be the same issue other users were having here last year with Acad 2015.  I was on 2014 until last week and never had this issue and neither did anyone else when they were on 2014.

I can reload the palettes just fine by selecting 'Tools' 'Palettes' and then selecting the appropriate palette and they load up just fine and will stay around varying amounts of time.

Palettes just seem buggy to me since 2015.  I upgraded from 2014 of which I had ZERO problems.

My cui looks like this.

Hi,

to your screenshot:

When you first started AutoCAD you run the process of profile migration. My guess that is the source of the problem as some of the menu's are pointing to the old menus, also menus which even don't exist any more ... showing me you have at least menus, but the source data (like bitmaps) are not any more available.

Reset your profile, or create a new clean one that does not point to any old paths and menus and you'll get back a stable state.

Imho no ... it't the usage of old data which makes them unstable.

Well that at least is a possibility.  Though it is more complex than that.  Our profile is generated by our 3rd party software when it is installed ( I don't actually make one and it is not an "autocad" profile.  I've never really "migrated" at least not in the sense of using the old migration tool.  I didn't even copy my workspace over this time, I simply started a new one.

I do have a custom menu that I started new and then used the cui to transfer buttons and menus from the old one.  I eliminated a lot of old stuff when I did that.  But I believe I made that menu when I still had 2014.  That at least sounds testable.  I can unload my custom menu and leave it out for a few days and see if the problem goes away.  I assume it should be fine to use the cui to transfer toobar buttons from an older cui file?
