Tool Palette Icon "Command Tool.....PNG"

AS a result of another conversation on Tool Palette Speed (http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-civil-3d-general/tool-palette-block-insertion-delay/td-p/62119... I am modifying our tool palettes to use Macros for block insertion. The issue I have is the icons. I have placed all of my PNG Format icons on the folder ..TOOLPALETTES/PALETTES/IMAGES.

For each tool, I right click, select specify image and select the appropriate PNG file. When I close autocad and re-open. It recreases all of the icons with names such as Command tool_2C28463D-1CF2-4308-848F-31A2743B9321.png and assocaites this file with the tool on the palette. Why are these duplicate files being created and the original files not keeping there assocaition with the tool?

Hi @mikeevans6697

Working with Tool Palettes can be tricky at times. I personally have seen the same thing when creating custom palettes. The issue arises I think, when the images are not placed in the same location as the ATC file. Luckily, the duplicate files are tiny.  I have attached an AKN Article About Sharing Tool Palettes and Tool Palette Groups which might apply in some fashion to your issue.

When I create a new palette in 2017, add a block, and then look at the image properties it shows me that I have two images associated with the icon - one for light backgrounds and one for dark. When I open the default location for the images I see that additional PNG files are created. This is normal.

Are you unable to use the new palettes and the new icons?

Thanks John. The tools work fine, I was just trying to clean up the directories and noticed the extra icons.
