Text Symbol display problem %%P, %%C and %%D

I am having a problem with Text Symbols appearing incorrectly (%%P for the */- and %%C for the degree symbol). They appear fine for me, but when my coworker views the drawing they are fractions instead of symbols. We are both using 2018, but I use LT and neither has been customized in any way-out of the box installation. We are in two separate locations and telework, so a comparison between system variables is not possible. Is there a setting between the two versions that could be causing this? Attached examples provided (pdf is coworkers view/color cad is my view-and before someone says it's a pdf issue, no the coworker's screen view is showing the erroneous symbols).

The font is missing on one machine or being substituted by another that doesn't support those shortcuts.
