Text issue - ACAD 2022

I'm confused now.  I always thought there were just Dtext and Mtext.  I don't know what the difference is or if there is any difference between the 3 that I have shown.

As you see in the pictures below.    I use my grips a lot.  Well in the first picture if you noticed how the grips are set up and then the 2nd and 3rd pictures.  It is showing the first picture the grips are set up for Mtext.  The next two pictures it seems to show as Dtext. but when going into DDedit the middle picture is shown as Mtext.  I guess what I'm confused about is why is it showing differently?

I hope I didn't confuse anyone on what I'm confused about.

Probably your middle Mtext has a "Defined width" [look in the Properties palette] of zero, meaning no word wrapping no matter how long the content string.

Its the top one what has a " defined wide "

could you please explain what that is for?

Looks to me like the top mtext has columns turned on.

All Mtext has a defined width.  My assumption [without a drawing file to verify] is that the top one has a non-zero defined width, marked by the little pointer at the right, meaning a point at which it will word-wrap if the content goes beyond that width.  You can change that width by picking & dragging that pointer, or in Properties.

Good call, and that grip pattern is characteristic of dynamic columns specifically.  There is no such thing as columns of either type with zero defined width, but:
