TEXT IN A BLOCK

I'm creating a block with text that's designed to face up. But if we shoot the top of curb on the south (bottom) side it comes in like attached (red circle). Is their an options where i rotate the block (magenta) the text wont be but will remain in the box or a setting where i can change the rotation of only the text in the block?

Something like this? It uses and attribute with annotative text that has 'Match Orientation to Layout' set.

You want to look into using Dynamic Blocks.  You'll need to add a Rotation Parameter and then add a Rotate Action to that.  I've attached a sample.

Edit: @ronjonp's solution is probably better for you.  In any case, you do want to use an attribute instead of Mtext, which I hastily used in the sample I attached.

Hi,

Attributes when mirrored and rotated will treat as you have . You have a very simple attribute case .. I suggest to copy your block to any other place . In this case you won't face any problems .

Your uploaded image shows C3D. Just to be clear, are you building a block from scratch?

You can modify an exiting cogo point to get the appearance you want (or use one of the existing cogos without modifications).

With a cogo you can use the diamond grip. Hover over it and you’ll get a shortcut menu where you can rotate the marker (the cogo itself) without rotating the label.

If you’re not using cogo points then how do you get away with surveyed catch basins that aren’t in a Point Group?

Yes Im building one from scratch. i found it slightly easier because i knew what i wanted and went from creating a block and importing it as a cogo point.

Hi @foste312

OK, got it, from scratch. I would've just modified an existing cogo, but that's just me. I know when I mod an existing cogo only the shape will change--the cogo properties will continue like they're suppose to.

As long as you get the 'diamond grip' as shown in post 5 of this thread then you're good to go.

FWIW, you don't need to make your Catch Basin pretty, just SHOW them in the right amount and in the right places. Make sure you've got the right notes too. Your drainage system uses gravity and only works when the right parts are installed at the right elevation. If any are not complying with specs then someone will have to go back and physically reinstall them and that'll cost $$$ which means someone will pay, literally pay. While an accurate cogo point may look really ugly, a pretty cogo that misbehaves might cost you and your firm dearly so be careful. Jus sayin.

Trying the Attribute definition, I entered CB in the tag but can't select a rotation of 360. Also under  block authoring palettes if i click the rotation and select the point and distance then an angle of 360 i get the yellow "!" block on the left and cant add a property to it.

Can you send a couple screen shots showing how you set yours up?

What does a rotation of 360° mean?  Why are you not using 0°?  It probably won't allow it for the same reason that you can't draw an Arc through all 360° but must draw a Circle instead.

@foste312
Updated drawing sample attached.  Requested step-by-step screenshots follow.  You should be able to change the hyphen (or whatever characters you used as the Default value in the Attribute Definition setup) by triple-clicking the text.  If you single-click on the block, you can also change its value in the Properties palette.
