Text editing multileader with block

I have created a multileader style that uses a block with attributes.  When I edit the attributes and need to replace the text, the test stays in the background until I close the editor.  This makes it hard to revise the text since the next text is displayed over the original text.

Please let me know if anyone has found a solution to this.

Run the command MLEADERSTYLE
Select the style that you want to modify
Switch the to the Content tab
Under "Multileader Type", select "Block"
Under "Source Block", select "User Block..."
From the dialog that pops up, select your block.
Press OK
Press OK
Press Close.

Just a note:

Annotative blocks cannot be used in MLEADERs.

I already know how to create the multileader with a block with attributes.  It is when I'm entering in the attributes and there is already text in the attribute.  The previous text is displayed as I'm editing.

Please see attached pdf with snap shots of the problem.

Command REGEN?

When you click on the text you don't want, what does properties say it is?

Is it a block, attribute def., text...?

I have WBLOCKed the multileader for you try.

Please try editing the attributes in the multileader block and I think that will answer your questions and give a better understanding of the problem.

I am using 2015 and the same thing happens. However, the old text is somewhat lighter so it is easier to differentiate old and new. I don't know if this is a bug or a "feature".

The same bug occurs here.  In addition, there are significant problems when placing these multi-leaders here (2015 MEP).  After exiting the attribute dialog, the current zoom here centers at 0,0 - - away from the leaders themselves.  A zoom previous is necessary to get back.  The same editing issues do not occur if the block is inserted by itself.

Sorry I don't have more help other than a suggestion to avoid multiline attributes unless you really plan on using several lines.  In addition the MTEXTED variable might opens the possibility that you could use notepad to edit the attributes.

I was able to change it easy. The x-ref was on a locked layer, and after I synced it the text in the background adjusted properly.

There are no x-refs in the file.  No locked layers.  I can change it too, but the it is hard due the text in the background.

I see the total opposite of what you're saying.

"There are no x-refs in the file. No locked layers. I can change it too, but the it is hard due the text in the background."

There is a block reference, a layer is locked. I unlocked the layer, jumped out of the block reference, and edited the text on the leader. And the text in the background was removed. The text is locked. Go deep... like explode it or something and you'll see that text is locked.

Please don't make me send you a screen recording like my last post.

That text that is staying in the background that is annoying you is on a locked layer called: 0-RefEdit0

How to access it:

1. Explode everything

2. Select TEST right click, and select Edit Block-In Place --> ok

3. Click on the text in the background, you'll notice it's locked.

4. Unlock it

5. Get out of editor

6. Re Define Block

You win.

When I eploded the multileader the x-ref layer appears while only in reference block editor.

I unlocked the layer, but it stays locked.

Thanks for explaining what you were doing to get the xref layer to show up.

I'm assuming xref layer is staying unlocked for you?

That is NOT an Xref layer --  the 0-RefEdit0 layer is an artifact of the RefEdit command for editing the block in place.  basically everything in the drawing other than the block being edited in RefEdit is locked.

Exploding kinda defeats the purpose of a multi-leader -- having a separate arrowhead, lines, and block is not IMO very useful.

Block inserted by itself works fine, Block as part of a multileader style has misbehaving multi-line attributes.
Call it a bug, because it is.

Doug's suggestion of changing MTEXTED to notepad works, and is probably the best option for sanity while editing the attribs, unless you can settle for single line attributes.
