terribly slow drawings in AutoCAD

I have some very slow drawings.  Very simple cad files with not much in them.  I suspect that an engineer has opened them in C3D possibly.  Could this cause the slow down?  How can I speed them up. I have done an audit and purge.  Could someone opening a vanilla cad file with c3d, cause this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about that.  So I just opened the reference manager and scrolled to the bottom to see these errors

There's a tremendous amount of file names with the yellow "not found" symbol 

See attached.  If I need to load the CAD file I will but the file doesn't belong to me so I'm trying to accomplish without loading.  If needed I will do so.

That is a reason why it is so slow to open. AutoCAD is looking for those files and cannot find them.

My other draftsman has no problem opening these files and it doesn't seem to be slow for him.  Is there setting that needs to be turned off so that my program isn't looking for those "not found" files?  I'm running ACA 2016-64 bit

Are they shown as not found in the reference manager for him?

Maybe he has a better computer or network connection that makes the search faster. 

Like I said, there can be any of a number of reasons for bad performance and trouble shooting remotely is a hit or miss guessing game because of all the variables.

Not that I know of.

Missing fonts can be another reason.
