Hi.

How can I import a template file from one drawing to another? Where do I find the location of the template files?

Hi,

The templates installed with AutoCAD are located:

c:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2021\R24.0\enu\Template\

I suggest to follow this link that will help you. >> Click <<

@anch2304 you don't IMPORT template files in plain AutoCAD, all the old content and setting will never change so you just end up with a bit of a mess: that's just a basic AutoCAD thing you may have forgotten about.
You are better off opening the TEMPLATE file first, then copy/paste or INSERT the other files into it, then SAVEAS to create a new file.

OR... are you using a specialized version of AutoCAD? then we need to move your post to the correct forum for that software.

@pendean  You can import templates into other drawings by right clicking on the layout tab and choosing the option '' from template''. Way better option then copy/paste method.

@dany_rochefort I'm not sure the OP only wants to just bring in a layout as in your screenshot. I read it as more encompassing (aka fixing a problem file). Only time and the OP can confirm which they need of course.
