struggling with dimensioning two angled lines

hi guys,

I am trying to design a support bracket for a spoiler to go on a car, its a basic trianlge design which i can do, im at the part where i am reducing weight in the design and removing material with some cuts, im having trouble with tring to get a 20mm spacing  around that so i keep some strength, i can dimension the horizontal and vertical lines its the angled one that i cant do.

i have manged to rotate the part and that has let me do it but as soon as i try and rotate back it goes all out of shape.

ive attached an image to try and help explain what i mean (not the actual bracket, just a quick tringle to simplfy what i mean)

in another way how to i get a 2mm gap all the way around?

I'm not 100% on what you are asking. You start out asking about dimensions but then seem to end on having another line 20mm away from the other line.   

To dimension on an angle instead of vertical or horizontal, use angular dimension tool instead of linear dim tool. What I do is use the angular dim tool, pick a point on one line then use perpendicular snap and snap to the line you want to dim too. This will make sure you get a dim that is squared up.

If you are talking about getting a line 20mm all around. What I would do is select all your inner lines of your triangle, use join command and it will make it one polyline. Then use the offset command, set distance to 20mm and then offset the triangle. 

Is one of those things what your are asking? You also say 2mm and 20mm I assume one is a typo.
