Stretching lines using grid 2018

So this is frustrating me now. Was working in previous versions.

PROBLEM:

I want to stretch a line by 400mm so I highlight the line, click on the grip, move it in the direction I want with ortho on, type 400 and the line rather than extending 400mm reverts to the length of 400mm

I'm working in AutoCAD design suite 2018 and was previously in 2015, 2014, 2013 & 2012 (in which it works fine)

At the moment I have to draw another line to extend the line to or draw a circle from the end point and extend.

any help appreciated - sorry if its been bought up before

Just noticed this is happening when I am trying to extend the end of a polyline - not a normal line. Normal lines extend Ok. I grab the end of the polyline, type the amount I need to stretch it and that section of the polyline reverts to the dimension I have typed

Just to know :

Can I guess if the variable DYNMODE is greater than 1 ? 2 or 3 ?

I don't know 2018 but what if you set DYNMODE to 0 or 1 ? if not for now, off course.

DYNMODE to 0 and all fixed thanks

Ok. At second, I would have suggest to tell if any special UCS was in use.

All together if DYNMODE was set > 1

Hit TAB and watch which of the dynamic-display numbers is emphasized -- that's the one that's going to take on what you type in, so if it's the length of a segment, that length is what will change.  Hit TAB repeatedly to cycle through the choices.

If it doesn't offer you the choice you want, you should be able to do what you're after with STRETCH, rather than drawing some temporary thing and Extending to it.
