Stop date from updating

I have a title block where I have been manually adding the date to new prints every day.

So I have been doing a lot of research and found that using the DiselExpression and putting in "$(edtime, $(getvar, date), M/d/yyyy h:mm:ss)". I also read that using "$(edtime, 0 $(getvar, date), M/d/yyyy h:mm:ss)" with a Zero in the edtime field would Not update, but it sill does.

What I am looking for is away to freeze that date and time every time I open up a new project.  I don't want it to update with saving, I am looking for away to keep the date a new project started.  I tried using the CreateDate, but that just adds the date to when the title block was made.

Not sure if this is possible, thank you all inadvaced.

Usually, people are asking how to make a Date Field update automatically, not "stop updating"....

A normal date field does not update unless you run UPDATEFIELD and select it.

I just tested it. Note the current time and the field. This is just seconds after opening this drawing.

Thank you for the quick reply.  Maybe I am missing something then, I did the following this time.

  1. On the command line, enter FIELD
  2. From the Field Category drop-down list, select Other.
  3. From the Field Names drop-down list, select SystemVariable.
  4. From the System Variable drop-down list, select Date.
  5. From the Examples drop-down list, select the desired Date format.
  6. Click OK and place the field

So now if i want it to shut off auto updating i just tried FIELDEVAL and set it to 0, which worked.  But by doing that it also stops updating the file location & project name/rev.

I am sure i am way over thinking this.  I just want the date to appear when a new project is started, and to never change even when saving or plotting.

So maybe i am over thinking this.  I used the following that was linked in your post to create the time.

On the command line, enter FIELD
From the Field Category drop-down list, select Other.
From the Field Names drop-down list, select SystemVariable.
From the System Variable drop-down list, select Date.
From the Examples drop-down list, select the desired Date format.
Click OK and place the field
With that it will update every time I save it.  So to shut that off I did a FIELDEVAL and set it to 0.  Only issue with that is if/when I do a save as and type in the newest project name or Revision, the newest name and revision in the title block don't updated.

... or just don't use a FIELD if you only wish to control the results manually all the time?

Stop using "SystemVariable" > "Date"

Just use this:

Or as pendean said, don't use a field at all.
